Fori accidentally comes to know that there is a man called Vasyliy, who lives in the town of Vylkovo in Ukraine, and who can sell an inexpensive old Soviet telescope.
Fori and his friend Theo start for a long journey by an old car through Romania to the Danube Delta, to Vilkovo. This city was once founded by Old Believers, who fled Russia in search of freedom and an attempt to preserve their faith and traditions. There are water channels instead of streets in the city; boats are main transport of local residents. Old Believers use boats to catch fish and to deliver goods.
