Festival Focus - The yurt

The Yurt is a visually beautiful film which pays homage to ‘the occult world of Tantra’. After breaking up with his fiancé, Jack moves back to his home town as he tries to get his life back on track. He finds himself in the titular Yurt as he embarks on a spiritual journey where he must confront his own negative thoughts, finding both deep connection and himself in the process.

The Yurt pays great attention to natural aesthetics and as such the audience is treated to an extremely visually pleasing film. There is a great focus on natural lighting and natural beauty, which draws you away from the city landscape often featured in films and instead brings an instant sense of serenity and calm to the picture. This focus on natural beauty, with wide shots of stunning landscapes, lends to the films themes spectacularly. Highlighting the importance of feeling a spiritual connection to the natural environment and a calmness within yourself.
