Louise's Picks Not To Miss

Undoubtedly there have been some fantastic submissions this year and the entire selection process has been pleasantly challenging and rewarding.

Really there are far too many great entries to reduce down to just a few favourites so the below represents barely a small selection of those I have thoroughly enjoyed watching.

First off is ‘Court Number 5’. A hard-hitting drama that highlights the potentially huge negative impact an acrimonious parent separation can have on children. Great directing by Mickey Cornwell and good acting all round topped off by a super convincing performance given by Jaime Winstone.

Darren Kent is not just a fine actor, but clearly, he has much skill as a director, and this is wonderfully displayed in the touching short drama, ‘You Know Me’: An unfolding tale that shows the devasting impact dementia has on not just the sufferer, but their loved ones too.

Dympna Jardine’s ‘Wool’ creatively speaks to the cruelty that the exertion of power and control can have within a relationship of domestic abuse. Great performance from Vey Straker as she enacts her unique revenge and recovers her self-respect and dignity.

‘Against the Grain’ is a terrific movie that reflects on the meaning in life and asks us to embrace the joys of living in the moment. Fantastic story and direction by Richard Evans topped of with a wonderful performance by Paul Broughton.

Why not come along and give them a watch, I’d love to meet you and hear your thoughts on each.
