Romford Film Festival In Tashkent

From the 28th of September until the 4th of October, Peter and Spencer from the festival team will be in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) representing the UK Film Industry. Accompanying them is Oliver Guy Watkins who won the audience award for best documentary in 2021 for his compelling film on the life of actor James Paton. As part of the festival his movie Who Is James Payton will be screening to central asian audiences for the first time. Each year the festival teams up with the Eurasian Creative Guild to bring Eurasian films to the UK, so representation from the ECG will also be in attendance.
The Tashkent Film Festival ran regularly from 1968 through to 1997, 2021 sees the return of this beloved festival as part of a very real intention from the Uzbekistan government to procure talent and generate very real careers in film. During the festival there will be events that see the opening of the Palace Of Cinematography and the opening of five film schools across the country in Samarkand, Bukhara, Kokand, Khiva and Nukus.
We'll be updating the blog and Facebook page throughout the festival.
